Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated:
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of The Matrix (the "Service"). It supplements our Terms of Service and End User Licence Agreement. Breach of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund, and where appropriate, we will cooperate with law-enforcement authorities.
1. Prohibited content and activity
You must not use the Service — directly or indirectly — to produce, process, store, or distribute material that:
- Forges or counterfeits documents. The Matrix's signing codec is designed to make documents tamper-evident. Using it to produce fake receipts, invoices, contracts, shipping labels, identity documents, or any other material intended to deceive a counterparty is expressly prohibited.
- Impersonates another party. You must not stamp documents with signatures, seals, or codec identifiers intended to make a document appear to originate from a person or organisation other than you.
- Bypasses document-authentication systems. You must not use the Service to produce codes or stamps that are designed to be accepted by another company's scanner, verification system, or audit pipeline as if they were that company's own.
- Facilitates fraud, money-laundering, tax evasion, or other unlawful activity.
- Infringes intellectual property rights, breaches confidentiality obligations, or violates privacy law.
- Contains malware, harmful code, or material that harasses or threatens others.
2. Technical restrictions
You must not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or replicate the Matrix signing codec, key schedule, or payload format (see the EULA for details).
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with licence validation, update mechanisms, or other security features.
- Use the Service to probe, scan, or test the security of systems you are not authorised to test.
- Overload our servers with abusive API traffic. Normal desktop-app validation traffic is fine; automated scraping is not.
3. Volume limits
Paid plans include generous processing allowances appropriate for their seat count. If your usage looks materially different from a normal business workflow for the plan you hold (for example, stamping millions of documents a day on a single-seat Starter plan), we may contact you to move you to a suitable plan.
4. Reporting abuse
If you believe a user is violating this AUP — for example, you've received a forged document that carries a Matrix signature — please email abuse@chunkland.com. We take every report seriously and will investigate.
5. Consequences of breach
If we reasonably believe you have breached this AUP we may, without liability:
- Immediately suspend or terminate your account and licence keys.
- Refuse refunds for suspended or terminated accounts.
- Retain and share relevant records with law-enforcement authorities where legally required or where the breach indicates serious criminal activity.
- Publish a revocation such that any document still bearing your signature is flagged by future verifiers.
6. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be notified to active subscribers by email with at least 14 days' notice before they take effect.
